Diaper Bank Turns 20

Those were the days. Scenes from the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona's early days.

Those were the days, photos were printed from film, there was no Facebook or Twitter and the idea of bank for diapers was novel and new.

It was in 1994 that a notion launched an idea that would eventually catch fire and spread across the nation.

The first diaper bank in the United States started as a holiday diaper drive held by Hildy Gottlieb and Dimitri Petropolis. Now 20 years later there are more than 200 diaper banks in the U.S. and the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona has distributed more than 8.5 million diapers and incontinence items to tens of thousands of families and individuals in need throughout Southern Arizona.

We look forward to celebrating our 20th anniversary in our warehouse!
